Ulster have no fear of Tigers
Ulster will go into their crucial Heineken Cup tie against Leicester Tigers this weekend full of confidence, according to head coach Brian McLaughlin.
His side recorded an impressive 42-20 victory away to Edinburgh in the Pro12 at the weekend and with the recent 33-17 win over Munster under their belts as well, McLaughlin believes they are ready for the visit of the Tigers to Ravenhill.
"We've had our problems at Murrayfield in the past and yes, we were a little inconsistent at times, but all in all it was an excellent victory for us," he said of the weekend's victory.
"We gifted them their two tries but generally, our defence was outstanding - this was one of our best defensive performances all so season, we can take a lot of confidence from that as we now look towards the visit of the Tigers and what is going to be a huge night at Ravenhill on Friday in the Heineken Cup."
It's still all to play for in Pool Four with Ulster, Leicester and Clermont Auvergne all vying for a place in the knock-out stages.
After the visit of former Champions Leicester, Ulster head to France for their final pool game and McLaughlin was glad to see his squad have a confidence boosting run ahead of the European fortnight.
"The weekend was very important in the context of the Pro12, but it was also important in view of next week's match to get everyone back together after an unsettled period over Christmas," he added.
"It was great to have everyone back this evening and to play the way we did.
"Confidence levels are high and we'll take that into next week although we're under no illusions, we know what a tough game Leicester is going to be and we will need to do not just the same, but better next week."
