Scotland wing McLean suspended after guilty plea of domestic abuse
NEWS: Scotland wing Rufus McLean has been suspended by club side Glasgow after pleading guilty to domestic abuse charges.
The 22-year-old faced charges in an Edinburgh court on Wednesday and his future as a professional rugby union player could be decided later this week.
"Rufus McLean is suspended from all club activity and is unavailable for selection following a guilty plea to charges under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 in December 2022," said a Glasgow statement.
"Glasgow Warriors does not condone abuse of any kind and therefore, along with Scottish Rugby, immediately suspended the player following his plea.
"An internal investigation has been instigated and a disciplinary hearing will be held this week."
McLean, born in Boston in the United States, has made 26 appearances for Glasgow and has also won three full Scotland caps, scoring two tries on his Test debut against Tonga at Murrayfield in October 2021.
