European U/20 starts
Big win for Romania
Romania kicked off the European Under-20 Championship with a big win over Spain in Sopot, Poland. The reigning champions, Georgia, had a tough time against Russia.
Romania scored nine tries against Spain and led 38-0 at the break. Right wing Dorin Manole scored a hat-trick of tries.
Russia scored the only try of their match with Georgia who kicked five penalty goals and led 12-0 agt half-time.
Those are the four teams in Group 1 of Division 1 – Georgia, Russia, Romania and Spain.]
In Group 2 are Germany, Poland, Portugal and Ukraine.
Division 2 has one group – Belgium, Lithuania, Czech Republic, and Moldova.
There are two groups in Division 3. The one, Group 4A, has Croatia, Slovenia and Switzerland. Group 4B has Serbia & Montenegro, Hungary and Poland B.
The championship started on Sunday. The results of the first two days are:
