Evans gets six weeks for late charge

'We have all learned lessons on this tour'

Wales and Ospreys lock Ian Evans has received a six-week suspension after being cited and found guilty of foul play, following an incident in the second Test between Argentina and Wales in Buenos Aires on Saturday.

The Pumas won the game 45-27, with two converted Welsh tries (14 points) in the final three minutes giving their scoreline some respectability.

The suspension of Evans will run from the date of the Ospreys first official friendly match in August.

The citing was brought against Evans for 'reckless and dangerous play'. The charge came as a result of a late charge on the Argentine skipper AgustĂn Pichot.

"We were treated fairly in the hearing and we accept the punishment handed out to Ian. We have all learned lessons on this tour and this is one that Ian will have to take on board," said Wales team manager Alan Phillips.

"He will need to look at this aspect of his game when he returns."

Evans added: "I regret the incident. I let the team down and discipline is something I will have to concentrate on in the future."
