Luamanu gets suspended

The New Zealand-born Luamanu was charge for dangerous tackling, contrary to Law 10.4(e).

The No.8 pleaded not guilty but was given a five-week suspension. He is free to play again on December 13.

He received a yellow card from referee Craig Evans in the weekend’s Anglo-Welsh Cup match between Harlequins and Exeter Chiefs for a dangerous tackle on Will Hooley.

He was subsequently cited by the Independent Citing Commissioner. The incident occurred in the first half of the match.

Chairman of the RFU discipline panel, James Dingemans said: "The panel upheld the citing, concluding that Mathew Luamanu had committed a dangerous tackle because he had made contact with his head, having been reckless within the meaning of RFU Regulation 19.11.8(b) and Appendix 5. The panel imposed a suspension of five weeks,"

The panel comprised of James Dingemans (chairman), Michael Short and Becky Essex.
