Liebenberg decides his playing future
NEWS: Leicester Tigers announced that loose forward Hanro Liebenberg has renewed his contract with the club.
Since arriving in Leicester from the Bulls in South Africa in 2019, Liebenberg, 28, has been voted Tigers Player of the Year, has amassed 100 appearances to date, including 32 as captain and tasted Premiership glory in Tigers colours in 2022.
Commenting on his renewal, Liebenberg said: "I’m grateful to continue my career here at the Leicester Tigers.
"From day one I’ve felt at home here and I’m excited for the future, particularly with the group of players we have here and the program the coaches have put in place.
"Being part of this community, our supporters, it’s a privilege and I’ll continue to give my all for the club every time I wear the jersey."
Leicester Tigers General Manager, Richard Wilks said:"Very few people consistently conduct themselves in a manner that has the respect from an entire rugby club, it’s fan base and community. Hanro does."
"What Hanro does on the field is evident, but It will be hard for those not at Oval Park to appreciate the leadership role Hanro plays for the team, every day, all year round but his impact on this group, and the young players coming in to the squad, is huge.
"Hanro has made Leicester Tigers his home and it’s great for him to be staying."
Tigers also announced on Thursday the renewals of wing Harry Simmons, prop James Cronin and scrumhalf Tom Whiteley.
