Bath sign Pumas flyer

Pumas outside back Horacio Agulla has parted ways with Leicester Tigers and will join their Premiership rivals Bath next season.

The 27-year-old, who is comfortable playing at fullback or on the wing, has played 34 Test matches for Argentina and is known for his abrasive style out wide.

Agulla was a crowd favourite at Welford Road, winning the Tigers' fans' Player of the Season and Try of the Season Awards this past season.

The fiery outside back is known for his commitment and determination, and should add some punch to the Bath backline.

Agulla commented: "I'm really excited to be joining Bath Rugby and hopefully helping them to challenge for silverware next season.

"Bath play a good brand of rugby that I believe will suit my game and I'm excited to work with the new coaching team.

"They have some excellent players in their squad and my first challenge is to get into the side and make that starting shirt my own," added Agulla.

New Bath coach Gary Gold said that he was delioghted to sign a players of Agulla's versatility, and added that the experience that he will pick up playing against top international sides in the Rugby Championship this year would be valuable as Bath attempt to lift their performance levels next season.

"We're really excited to have Horacio join Bath Rugby for the new season and are looking forward to him getting stuck into training with the rest of the squad," said Gold.

"He's a very good player who is able to play two positions at a high level which brings great diversity and strength in depth to the team.

"We believe his exposure playing for Argentina in the new Rugby Championship format against the All Blacks, South Africa and Australia will further develop him as a player and Bath Rugby can only benefit from that," Gold explained.
