The hooker – who initially joined on a short-term deal in September – has impressed in the blue and white hoops, making nine competitive appearances and scoring once.

Head coach Mark Tainton said: "Rob [Hawkins] has fitted in really well since coming onboard and he's added value and competition to the hooker position.

"We're pleased to keep Rob with us for the remainder of the season as we look forward to the second half of the Premiership season."

Hawkins added: "It's been fantastic to be back involved in the professional rugby environment and I'm enjoying every day with the club.

"There's a real togetherness and determination to start pushing up the Premiership table and I'm delighted to be a part of that."

The South African loose forward made nine appearances during his time at the club, following his arrival in 2015.
