Springbok extends his stay at Sarries

CONTRACT NEWS: Saracens revealed that Ivan van Zyl has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The scrumhalf has taken the Premiership by storm this season and has made himself a crucial part of the backline in the No.9 shirt.

The South African, who has six caps for his country, won the prestigious Players' Player of the Season Award this year after a string of electric performances which have had a huge impact on the attacking brand of rugby.

His quick tap try in the semifinal against Northampton Saints showed his quality, and he recently brought up a half-century of appearances for the club in the Champions Cup quarterfinal against La Rochelle.

Van Zyl is excited to be staying at Barnet Copthal.

"I'm really happy to have signed on for another two seasons," the Springbok No.9 said.

"I absolutely love it here and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!"

Director of Rugby Mark McCall is pleased that van Zyl has put pen to paper.

"We are delighted Ivan will be extending his stay at the club," McCall said.

"He has become an integral part of our squad and is highly respected by everyone at the training ground.

"We are confident that his best days lie ahead of him."
