Stringer roped in by Falcons
Following his loan spell with Premiership champions Saracens Irish scrumhalf Peter Stringer has signed with the Newcastle Falcons until the end of the season as they stell themselves for a relegation battle.
Ireland's most capped No.9 with an incredible 99 Test appearances to his name, Stringer is excited to make a contribution at Kingston Park.
He said: "I have been given a tour around the ground and I am very impressed with the set-up here – I met up with a few of the boys after training and I am looking forward to getting stuck into training in the next couple of days."
Winning two Heineken Cups, three Triple Crowns and a Grand Slam, it is fair to say that the 34-year-old brings a wealth of experience to the North East.
And it is that experience that the Falcons faithful will be hoping proves invaluable in the club's quest to maintain their Premiership status.
Stringer said: "I have been lucky enough to play for two great teams in the shape of Saracens and Munster in the last few years and I have enjoyed a lot of success.
"Hopefully that experience will help me here at Newcastle. I have spoken to Gary [Gold] on the phone and I have heard great things about him and his attitude towards the game.
"The directors and coaches at Saracens had nothing but good things to say about Newcastle and I am looking forward to working with Gary," he added.
Gold was delighted with the capture of Stringer, saying: "I am delighted that a player of Peter's quality and experience has decided to play his rugby in the North East."
