Bulls reject to prove his worth in Bloemfontein

NEWS: Springbok wing Jamba Ulengo has reported for duty at the Cheetahs in the hope of getting a contract,  OFM revealed.

The 26-year-old Ulengo was left out of the Bulls training squad for Super Rugby 2019 after being with the Pretoria outfit since 2014.

Ulengo has one Bok cap to his name after playing against Wales in November 2016 in Cardiff. He also represented the Springbok Sevens team in 13 World Series tournaments.

As he is still without a contract, it is unlikely Ulengo will feature in the Cheetahs’ next Pro14 game against Italian side Benetton.

Meanwhile, Tapiwa Mafura has reported for duty in Bloemfontein. The wing and fullback is contracted for two years.

The 22-year-old Leopards and North West University fullback capped off a memorable season with selection into the 2018 Varsity Cup Dream Team XV.

He excelled in SA schools’ rugby starring at flyhalf, wing and fullback.

Mafura’s big break came under the current Leopards and NWU Varsity Cup coach Jonathan Mokuena, who included him in the senior Leopards team for the SuperSport Rugby Challenge in 2017.
