Manning steers Munster home
Munster recorded their first win of the new Magners League campaign on Friday night with a 24-13 win over the Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park.
The defending Champions were always in control on the scoreboard, taking the lead with 25 minutes gone and never looking back.
The home side scored a try in each half, the first by Marcus Horan and the second by Denis Leamy, and had just enough in the tank to subject Dai Young's men to their second successful loss to start the new season.
New Zealand flyhalf Jeremy Manning added 14 points with the boot for the hosts while Ben Blair, the Blues' reliable points machine, could only contribute eight points to his teams cause on the night.
The Welsh sides former captain, Xavier Rush, scored their only try of the evening - a 38th minute effort.
Each side felt the wrath of the match official during the 80 minutes as well. The Blues first, with flank foward Mamma Molitika being binned early in the second period and Munster second, as Lifeimi Mafi was binned five minutes from full time.
