New Warriors deal for smart Alex

Fresh from delivering a Pro 12 Man of the Match performance in the 31-3 win over Cardiff Blues, Alex Dunbar has signed a two-year contract extension with Glasgow Warriors.

The centre, who also played a key role in the victories against Ospreys and Aironi immediately before last Friday's success, has earned praise from supporters and pundits alike for his ability to consistently break the line and follow up the initial dent with a positive decision.

The 22-year-old's incisiveness and eye for a telling pass set up the third and fourth tries in the bonus-point defeat of the Blues, a result which keeps the Warriors on course to reach the Pro 12 playoffs.

Dunbar is relishing the prospect of playing his part in helping the Warriors achieve success both this season and in those to come: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract with Glasgow. We're in a good place at the moment, and the team and club as a whole are in a strong position to make further progress in the next couple of years.

"I've really enjoyed working with and learning from the players and coaches at the club - the performances we've put in this season show just how good an environment has been created.

'There's a great buzz around the whole club about the opportunity we have to finish strongly in the Pro12, and everyone is determined to keep winning for ourselves and the supporters."

Head coach Sean Lineen confirmed: "I'm really happy that Alex has decided his future is with the Warriors. He's a player whose ability has always been clear, and he’s now benefitting from getting a run in the side to prove to the wider audience that he can more than hold his own at this level."
