Cheetahs speedster set to play for Stormers
NEWS: Cheetahs star Rosko Specman is set to feature for the Stormers over the next few weeks.
According to Afrikaans newspaper Rapport, the 32-year-old speedster will join the Stormers on loan for the remainder of the Rainbow Cup.
The report revealed that Stormers head coach John Dobson can select him for Friday's clash against the Bulls in Pretoria.
The Stormers' final Rainbow Cup league match is against the Lions in Cape Town on June 12.
The reason for the move is to help give Specman some valuable game time as he is set to be included in the Springboks' 45-man squad.
Specman featured in the Cheetahs' 35-43 defeat to an Invitational XV on Saturday in Bloemfontein, but other than that the Cheetahs have been inactive recently.
SA Rugby Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus explained that a larger-than-usual national squad - which will be named after the Rainbow Cup SA clash between the Lions and the Sharks in Johannesburg on June 5 - will be chosen to accommodate both the Springbok and SA A training schedule at the same time.
The Springboks are set to resume international duty with two Tests against Georgia in July, followed by the much-anticipated British and Irish Lions Series, which consists of three Test matches.
The SA A team will play the British & Irish Lions on July 14 at the Cape Town Stadium and Erasmus confirmed the Springbok management will also take charge of their match preparations, with the plan to trim the squad to around 35 players before the first Test, also in Cape Town on Saturday, July 24.
