The former Leinster player spent spells with Mont-de-Marsan in the French PRO D2 and Bedford Blues in the English Championship before joining Saracens last season.

He made 11 appearances for Saracens in the Premiership.

The 28-year-old Westmeath native will link up with Rassie Erasmus' squad next week.

Flanagan's arrival bolsters Munster’s options in the second row department following injuries to Gerbrandt Grobler, Dave O’Callaghan and Darren O’Shea.

Munster's next Pro14 fixture is against Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park on September 30.

The Irish side will want to bounce back at home after their 10-37 defeat to Glasgow Warriors on Friday.
