Scotland international boosts Eninburgh's pack
The 27-year-old Alloa native, who has chosen to make the move from Glasgow Warriors, hails from a rich rugby heritage with his dad, Jock, an instrumental player when Heriot's won the Scottish club championship in 2000, having made the switch from flank to prop.
"I like the culture of the club, I know a lot of the players either through Scotland or age grade and I'm looking forward to being part of it and adding to the mix,” Bryce said about his move.
His brother, Glenn, who currently plays for Glasgow Warriors, will also be making the move from west to east for next season.
"It's been rugby for me, my brother and my dad. Are there any more of us? Glenn has a twin sister – she doesn't play but comes along to support!”
Bryce played flank through the age grades and was a member of the Scotland under-19 squad that competed at the 2007 World Championships.
,That year he was also recipient of the Macphail Scholarship which allowed him to hone his skills in New Zealand.
After turning out for Stirling County, he moved to Heriot's rugby club before signing for Glasgow Warriors in 2013.
He made his professional debut, at hooker, against Dragons in February 2014.
A member of the Scotland Club XV team that won the Dalriada Cup after beating Ireland in 2013, Bryce progressed to the Scotland A side that drew with England Saxons in 2014.
That year he became Scotland's 1058th international when he came off the bench to feature in the win over Canada.
He was included in the 2015 World Cup squad, as injury replacement for Stuart McInally, and played in the win over USA.
His decision to switch position, from hooker to tighthead, evolved following last year's World Cup.
He said: "The more I thought about and discussed it, the more I thought it would be the right move.
"It's not massively different, just a matter of making a number of technical adjustments.
"My dad made the move from flank to loosehead during his playing days, so it's not so unusual to make some sort of change.”
Head coach Alan Solomons said: "It is terrific news for the club that we have been able to secure the services of Kevin.
"He is an abrasive, physical player who will fit in well at Edinburgh.
"We are all looking forward to his arrival at the club."
