Wallabies show solidarity for Lealiifano

Lealiifano, 28, who has played 19 Tests for Australia and 117 Super Rugby games for the Brumbies, was diagnosed with leukaemia.

According to stuff.co.nz, star players David Pocock, Matt Giteau and Matt Toomua were among those who had shaved their heads in a sign of solidarity.

"At the moment it's just a matter of ensuring Christian receives the best care and support he can at this time," Brumbies Interim Chief Executive Phil Thomson said.

Meanwhile, Australian Rugby Union Chief Executive Bill Pulver had been in Rio for the Olympic Sevens, but issued a statement in support of Lealiifano.

"Anyone who has ever had any involvement with Christian knows he is an outstanding young man, as well as being an exceptionally talented rugby player," Pulver said.

"ARU will do whatever it can to support Christian and his family now and throughout his treatment.

"I know that everyone involved in our game will rally behind Christian and his Wallabies and Brumbies teammates through this difficult time."
