Maddison Levi and the ladies in Gold creating some magic in Cape Town once again as they stroll to a 22-14 lead at half-time in this Women's Cup Final. Maddison Levi gets a red card for a high tackle and it is game on! After an incredibly tough comeback from France; it just wasn't enough and Australia played the second half with 6 players but their heart and passion pulled them through this encounter to win another Cup Final! This well drilled unit from Australia is a pleasure to watch and congratulations to the Australian Women's side.
SVNS Cape Town Women - 3rd/4th Play-Offs:
USA W 7-19 New Zealand W
New Zealand starts the first half with a bang and scores two brilliant tries to race to a 14-0 lead at half-time over the USA Women's side. New Zealand start the second half the way they played the first half with great intensity as they dominate the USA Women's side with a dominant victory. The end result was 19-7 to New Zealand and they will take the Bronze medal.
SVNS Cape Town Women - Semifinal:
USA W 5 - 33 Australia W
Charlotte Caslick and her Australian Women's side start with fantastic footwork and slick hands to create some magic opportunities. USA are struggling to keep up with the intensity and pace of the Aussie team. Australia have a convincing 14-0 lead at half-time in this Cup Semi-Final with their Captain leading from the front. The USA Women's side came out strong in the second half but this Australian powerhouse team just proved to be too strong again and now will advance to another final.
France W 26 - 12 New Zealand W
France started the first half with a fantastic team try from their own 22m area and extend their lead even further just before the half-time break to take the score to 12-0 to France. The Black Ferns would catch a break with Les Bleus receiving a yellow card late in the second half to tie the scores up but the French Flair would pull through in the end with 6 players left on the field to see out the game as well as a spot in the final.
SVNS Cape Town Women - 5th-8th places:
Ireland W 17 - 5 Great Britain W
Ireland and Great Britain meet again in this tournament with the British getting the better of their island neighbors in the first encounter. It's been another closely contested first passage of play but Ireland will start the second half edging Great Britain by an unconverted try. The second half opens up a lot more chances to score with both teams getting on the scoreboard but the Irish women get their revenge in the end as well as 5th place position.
Fiji W 19 - 17 Canada W
Canada start this game out strong with an early try which puts the Fijians under pressure but the Fijian Women's side bounces back with a good team try to level the scores at 7-7. Canada have received a red card and will have to play the rest of this game with 6 Women. The half-time score is 12-7 to Canada. It looked like Canada would pull off a win being a player short but it's tight-head scrum to Fiji in the last play and they are able to steal the match at the death. Fiji finish the tournament in 7th position.
SVNS Cape Town Women - 9th-12th places:
Brazil W 15 - 14 Japan W
This game looked to be like a thrilling encounter with both teams showing much improvement in their skills and attack throughout the tournament. It cannot be understated how well the Brazilian Women's team have performed in Cape Town with an imposing lead at the halftime mark. The Sakura would come back into the second to go ahead by 2 points but the heart of Brazil burned bright as the final moments of the game ended with a winning try to Brazil and the 9th place trophy.
Spain W 21- 7 South Africa W
South Africa's women started the game strong with scoring the first try of the game but Spain was patient and played the perfect game to beat the host Nation 21 points to 7. Both teams put in some big hits on the field and can both can be proud of their efforts in this encounter. South Africa will feel disappointed to not get a victory in front of their home crowd and surely look to bounce back in their next tournament while Spain will walk away with 11th place honours.
SVNS Cape Town Women - Quarterfinals:
Great Britain W 19 - 12 USA W
Great Britain and USA both with a clinical performance on defence but USA pull through at the end to win a marginal victory over Great Britain. They have found a way to win narrowly 19-12 after a brilliant finish to the game.
Australia W 24 - 14 Ireland W
The Australian Women off to another flying start on day two at the SVNS as they lead 10-7 over Ireland. This unit is looking unstoppable but Ireland are putting up a great fight against this indestructible Aussie side. Ireland played very well but this well knitted Aussie side see's the victory out with a 24-14 win over the mighty Irish.
France W 19 - 17 Fiji W
Fiji come out the blocks with a fantastic team try but France bounced back immediately with a try of their own to take the lead into the half-time break 7 points to 5. This game was end to end stuff and is exhilarating to watch on this sunny day in the beautiful city of Cape Town. France come out on top today over Fiji with a narrow nail biting 19-17 finish.
New Zealand W 41 - 0 Canada W
The Kiwi Women's side looking sharp on day two as they race off to a 19-0 lead at half-time over this brave Canadian side. New Zealand show their class after defeating Canada 41-0 with an impressive performance and some attractive running Rugby.
SVNS Cape Town Women - Ninth-place play-off
Spain W 7 - 21 Brazil W
Brazil continue to improve on their game coming off an impressive day one performance. It would not be an easy feat for either side in this first play-off match for 9th place but it's The Brazilian women making all the plays in the first half leaving Spain to make tackle after tackle while the scores remained all square. The deadlock would eventually break as Brazil hit their strides to win the second half by two tries to none to hand them a comfortable victory.
Japan W 27 - 7 South Africa W
Japan really came out to play in the morning of Day 2 after absorbing some early pressure from the Blitzbok Women and then going onto run the women in green ragged. The Sakura were clinical when given space to run and were able to score five consecutive tries before the Blitzbok women could respond with one of their own. The South African women will have to go back to the drawing board after being competitive for most of the tournament but seemed to run out of steam against a determined Japanese outfit.
