Dillane may miss Six Nations opener

According to an Irish online newspaper the RTE,  Dillane sustained an ankle injury in the final minutes of their Pro12 defeat against Ulster on December 23.

Connacht have confirmed that he will be out of Saturday’s trip to Ospreys and that he is set to see an ankle specialist.

He could be out for six weeks and it could accumulate to more if he requires surgery which will result in him missing at least the start of Ireland’s spring campaign.

Connacht captain John Muldoon is also set to miss their Pro12 match against Ospreys after he suffered a hamstring injury during training.

Meanwhile, Finlay Bealham and Matt Healy are both suffering from stomach bugs and were unable to train on Tuesday.

Jack Carty picked up a minor calf injury in training on Monday and he is being monitored by medical staff.

On the credit side of the ledger, Eoin McKeon, James Connolly and John Cooney are all expected to be available this weekend after recent absences.

Danie Poolman has returned to team training after passing the return-to-play protocols for concussion, which is some good news for Connacht head coach Pat Lam.
