Scott itching for Scotland return

Scott found himself on the outside looking in during last November as Vern Cotter picked four centres in Peter Horne, Alex Dunbar, Mark Bennett and Huw Jones.

The 26-year-old's last appearances for his country came on their June tour to Japan last year, but the former Edinburgh man has been revitalised at Gloucester this season.

And the 36-cap international hopes he has done enough to force Cotter's hand in his upcoming squad announcement for the 2017 Championship.

"I was absolutely gutted to miss out in November. Centre is an extremely competitive position now whereas in the past it maybe wasn't," Scott told rbs6nations.com.

"It's a great thing for Scottish rugby, but I'm absolutely desperate to get back in the mix in the Six Nations.

"I have got to keep improving aspects of my game all-round just to get in the squad.

"If I'm in the squad up there training where the coaches can watch me day in day out, I just hope I can show them that I am worthy of a place again. I've just got to keep working hard."

Scott bagged a double last weekend for the Cherry & Whites in their victory over Worcester to take his tally to 11 tries for the season.
