Ireland bombarded with good news

The Ireland squad reassembled at its Maynooth base on Sunday.

Leinster's top try-scorer Barry Daly joins the squad hoping for his senior debut for Joe Schmidt's team, whilst Rob Herring re-joins the squad having resolved an elbow issue sustained playing for Ulster against Edinburgh.

Ultan Dillane is the only player not currently in camp as he travels back from South Africa following Connacht's PRO14 game against the Cheetahs. The lock will join the group on Wednesday.

Hooker Niall Scannell suffered a recurrence of a rib injury playing for Munster against Glasgow but is expected to be fit next week.

Andrew Conway is continuing his return from a knee injury at Munster but is expected to be available for selection next week.

Tadgh Furlong and Iain Henderson continued their rehab last week and are expected to return to full train this week.

"What pulling them out of last weekend meant for us, particularly Iain who was very close to being available and could have played, is we decided to go backwards rather than forwards and take our time a little bit more with that recovery process so that with that extra week," said the Ireland head coach.

"Then we're pretty prepared for them to come into the selection equation."
