Beatie boosts Scots' wounded

Castres No.8 Johnnie Beattie has been added to the Scotland squad to re-enforce the group for the forthcoming Six Nations.

 

The 29-year-old loose forward, who scored a try in his club's European Champions Cup defeat to Harlequins on Saturday, arrived at the team hotel on Sunday) ahead of the national team's three-day camp in Motherwell.

 

The Scotland medical team have also been busy tending to a number of players who checked in from the weekend's European Cup action.

 

The following players require further assessment and treatment, and will return to training this week as they become available: David Denton (calf), Alex Dunbar (concussion), Dougie Fife (leg), Robert Harley (knee/ankle), Sean Maitland (shoulder), Matt Scott (shoulder), Alasdair Strokosch (shoulder), Greig Tonks (concussion), Ben Toolis (back).

 

Scotland open their season with a tricky fixture in Paris against the unpredictable French on Feburary 7 before returning home to face Wales the next weekend.
