Williams set for Six Nations return

Williams, who has 26 Wales caps to his name, suffered a foot injury during the World Cup last year and has not played for club or country since.

But the 24-year-old is set to begin training with club side Scarlets next week with a view to getting him fit for their league clash with Connacht at the end of the month.

Wales begin their Six Nations campaign on February 7 away to Ireland, one week after Scarlets' match with Connacht.

Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac insists he is hopeful that Williams will be back to his very best before too long.

"Liam is moving well and is going to be in training with the team next week, he is not too far away," said Pivac.

"The plan is that he completes a full week of training and if he comes through that he is on course for the Connacht game [on January 30].

"Liam is working really hard, he has been through this rehab before, it is frustrating for him, but he is feeling a lot better than he was a few weeks ago – no pain and moving freely. It is a good sign."
