'Canes not a one-man team
The All Black hooker suffered rib cartilage damage in his team's 41-0 semifinal win over the Sharks and he looked in pain as left the field early in the second half.
Losing Coles for such a big match will be a big blow to the Wellington. However, Marshall believes the team has shown that they can perform without big name players.
The Hurricanes were written off pre-season following the loss of All Blacks like Ma'a Nonu and Conrad Smith.
"But people have been saying that we're missing people all year, people like Nonu and Smith, and we've had guys step up and prove that a team is more than one player."
The Chiefs are coming off an impressive 60-21 quarterfinal win against the Stormers in Cape Town and Marshall was in awe of their performance.
"The Chiefs looked awfully impressive. They played their style and the Stormers couldn't really keep with them.
"I thought we played well too so it's going to be a hell of a match," he added.
Marshall also believes that the Chiefs' harsh travelling schedule won't be too much of a factor due to improved methods used by travelling teams.
"I don't think it affects you on game day but it affects your preparation," Marshall said.
"You've got a shorter week, you're tired up until Thursday or Friday, but once you get to the game, I don't think it really affects you."
