Ngatai, Broadhurst still out with concussion
The Chiefs star got concussed after a head clash in a Super Rugby match against the Highlanders in May last year.
That was his last game of rugby and Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie is still uncertain as to when the 26-year-old can play again.
"He's getting better, it's been an incredibly slow process," Rennie told stuff.co.nz.
"He's not back in full training, he's starting to ramp things up a bit. He's had a few setbacks over the last period of time and there's a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, but we're not going to rush that.
"What tends to happen if you push things a little bit too much you go backwards a bit. So it's been a frustrating time for him.
"Anything's possible, so we've had a replacement in, Alex Nankivell, who's been running round with us. And with Tim Nanai-Williams back, he can cover midfield, we've got Anton [Lienert-Brown] and Johnny Fa'auli, and Beaver [Steven Donald] has played a bit of 12 in Japan recently, so we've got other options."
Broadhurst has missed the entire 2016 season with concussion symptoms after suffering head knock during a provincial game in August 2015.
"Nothing has really changed with James [Broadhurst]," Hurricanes assistant coach John Plumtree told nzherald.co.nz.
"He hasn't taken part in anything physically. He's still part of our group and is going through the process of coming back, but when that will be, just not sure.
"It's not something you can put a timeline on. It's bloody hard for him and hard for us, as we'd love to have him back, but there is no pressure from our side to get him back in."
