Jantjies to lead Lions at Newlands

There are a number of familiar faces in the side that will travel to Cape Town on Friday -= after coach Johan Ackermann fielded mostly youngsters in the first two per-season matches.

Springboks Jantjies, Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert, Francois de Klerk and Rohan Janse van Rensburg, as well as stalwarts, like Courtnall Skosan and Howard Mnisi will all start for the Lions.

There will also be a few new faces - like Marvin Orie, Madosh Tambwe in the starting line-up, as well as Hencus van Wyk on the bench.

Lions captain Warren Whiteley had his wisdom teeth removed this week and could not recover on time.

Lionel Mapoe will miss the encounter due to a hamstring strain.

Bok loose forward Jaco Kriel will play off the bench as well.

The Lions will take a squad of 29 to Cape Town for this preparation match, before they kick off their Super Rugby campaign on against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on February 25.
