Sharks go big in transfer market

Flyhalf Robert du Preez, the son of coach Robert du Preez senior, tops the list of recruits.

The Sharks took to social media to confirm that Du Preez - one of the most unfortunate players to miss .pout on Springbok selection for the year-end tour - will join the Durban franchise for pre-season training later this month.

Du Preez, who helped Western Province beat the Sharks in the Currie Cup Final last Saturday, will play for the Barbarians against New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday.

Makazole Mapimpi, currently on tour with the Cheetahs in Ireland where they play Connacht on Saturday, will also move to Durban soon.

The Sharks confirmed he will also join them for pre-season training - which means this weekend will most likely be his last outing for the Cheetahs.

Mapimpi was one of the stars for the Southern Kings in Super Rugby this year, before joining the Cheetahs for the Pro14.
