Chiefs prop hearing scheduled after red card incident
NEWS: Following a nasty head clash in the Super Rugby Pacific match between the Chiefs and the Brumbies for which prop Jared Proffit received a red card, he will appear before a judicial committee on Wednesday.
In the only sour note for the Chiefs, Proffit was given a red card late in the match for the head contact made with Brumbies lock Caderyn Neville, leaving him in the blood bin.
The nature of the offence is described by Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent late or Dangerously. Dangerous tackling includes but is not limited to tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent above the line of the shoulders.
Following initial consideration by the Super Rugby Pacific Foul Play Review Committee, Proffit of the Chiefs will appear at a Super Rugby Pacific Judicial Committee Hearing after being issued a Red Card for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby Pacific match at the weekend.
Proffit is alleged to have contravened Law 9.13: A player must not tackle an opponent late or dangerously, during the match between the Chiefs and Brumbies at AAMI Park in Melbourne on 3 March 2024.
The Judicial Committee for the Hearing will be Nigel Hampton KC (Chair), Mike Mika and John Langford which will be held by video conference on Wednesday, March 6.
