Edging closer to crowning a new Super Rugby champ
NEWS: The 2024 Super Rugby Pacific semifinal fixtures have been confirmed, with the Hurricanes and Blues earning precious home-ground advantage next weekend.
With a spot in the Super Rugby Pacific Grand Final up for grabs, the semifinals kick off on Friday, June 14 with the Blues welcoming the Brumbies to Eden Park.
The action continues on Saturday, June 15 with the minor premiers Hurricanes taking on the Chiefs at Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington.
The Chiefs were first to book their semifinal berth with a win over the Queensland Reds on Friday before the Hurricanes secured home-ground advantage for their clash courtesy of a 47-20 victory over the Melbourne Rebels on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Blues cruised past the Fijian Drua 36-5 in Auckland, where they’ll now meet the Brumbies on Friday, who progressed with a 32-16 victory over the Highlanders in Canberra.
A new Super Rugby Pacific champion will be crowned in 2024 with back-to-back defending champions the Crusaders missing the Super Rugby Finals for the first time since 2015.
The rules for the Super Rugby Pacific Finals series dictate the following match schedules:
Semifinals – top-ranked quarterfinal winner hosts against lowest-ranked quarterfinal winner & second highest ranked quarterfinal winner hosts 3rd highest ranked winner
Final – The top-ranked semifinal winner hosts the other semifinal winner.
