Bad break for Fruean
Robbie Fruean run of bad luck took another turn for the worse, as the Crusaders utility back is set for another stint on the sidelines.
The Crusaders, in a brief statement on Sunday, confirmed he had fractured his arm in the team's 16-40 hammering at the hands of the Chiefs in a Super Rugby outing at the weekend.
"An x-ray has confirmed that Robbie Fruean fractured his right arm during last [Saturday] night's Chiefs versus Crusaders game in Hamilton,"the statement said.
Fruean, who has undergone heart surgery twice in recent years, returned to the Crusaders this year after a brief stint with the Chiefs in 2014.
Fruean required treatment for abnormal heart rhythms that kept him sidelined for months during the 2014 Super Rugby season.
The blockbusting centre also had his second open-heart surgery in 2013 to replace a faulty valve.
The Chiefs scored five tries to one, the bonus-point win lifting them to the top of the Super Rugby standings alongside the Hurricanes.
The Crusaders have one win, a 26-20 victory over the Highlanders last week, after they opened their account with a shock 10-20 loss to the Rebels.
They have a bye this week, before lining up against the Lions in Christchurch on March 14.
