Blues dealt a bad hand

The New Zealand Herald reported that Perofeta sustained the injury during his side's 45-19 pre-season win over Chiefs.

The 20-year-old, who has represented the New Zealand Under-20 at last year's World Championship, made his debut for the Blues against the Reds in 2017.

The young gun was also a vital component during the Blues' 22-16 win over the British and Irish Lions at Eden Park in June.

The news does pose as a stumbling block for Tana Umaga's team, who face the Highlanders in Dunedin on February 23 before they host the Chiefs at Eden Park a week later.

Next is a long-haul trip to South Africa to play the Lions and Stormers.
