Bok duo commit to Lions

TRANSFER NEWS: While a lot of the Lions' senior players have sought greener pasture abroad, two Springboks players have opted to stay in Johanessburg.

The Lions confirmed that Springboks flyhalf Elton Jantjies and centre Lionel Mapoe has extended their contracts with the Lions for another year.

Jantjies and Mapoe are currently training with the Springboks in preparations for the upcoming Rugby Championship campaign.

Jantjies has been linked with moves to Ulster and Perpignan earlier in the year, however, the 28-year-old has opted to stay with the Johannesburg franchise until the end of 2019.

The duo's new contacts is good news for head coach Swys de Bruin who already lost senior players like Ruan Dreyer (Gloucester), Jaco Kriel (Gloucester), Rohan Janse van Rensburg (Sale Sharks) and Jacques van Rooyen (Bath).
