Brumbies bolster coaching team
NEWS: The Brumbies announced the appointment of Dan Palmer as scrum coach for the 2021 Super Rugby season.
Palmer played 45 times for the Brumbies and was previously in charge of the team’s set-piece from 2015 to 2018.
The former Wallaby tighthead prop has focused on his studies the past couple of years, earning a double degree in Science and Psychology and achieving first-class Honours in Neuroscience.
Palmer said: "I’m very happy to be back involved at the Brumbies."
"Dan [McKellar] called me with the opportunity to come back and it was a pretty easy decision to be honest.
"I enjoy coaching the scrum and working with the people at the Brumbies, and I think our scrum has a lot of improvement in it so I hope that I can help take us to the next level in 2021."
Five of the team's front-row stocks having been part of the Wallabies Tri-Nations squad this season, with 2021 recruit Archer Holz and recent Academy Graduate Billy Pollard joining local products Tom Ross and Harry Lloyd in the Brumbies 2021 Super Rugby squad.
Brumbies coach Dan McKellar said: "We’re delighted to have Palms back at the club."
"Dan is an incredibly intelligent and creative coach, who thinks about the scrum in a very unique way so he’s a significant addition to our coaching group for next season.
"Having worked with Palms before, I think he will have a big impact on the development of our younger front-rows this pre-season, and I’ve no doubt our Wallabies representatives will be looking forward to working with him again."
