Bulls 'chasing' Swys' signature

EXCLUSIVE: Lions coach Swys de Bruin is the latest name to be added to the coaching wishlist of the Bulls.

The growing list of potential coaches, for the 2019 Super Rugby season, has materialised in the wake of revelations that New Zealander John Mitchell is departing to join up with Eddie Jones - where he will become the defence coach of England.

Reliable sources have confirmed to rugby365 that Jones wants Mitchell to report for duty on September 1 - although there is apparently still a dispute about the amount the Bulls want as 'transfer fee' for an early release.

However, the grapevine has been abuzz with names the Bulls have added to their 'wanted' list.

De Bruin, who became the Lions' head coach this year after the departure of Johan Ackermann to Gloucester, has been added to the list of potential head coaches.

The list also includes Western Province's Currie Cup-winning coach John Dobson, Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse and former Reds and Wallaby coach Ewen McKenzie.

At this stage it is just a list of potential coaches who "should be invited to interviews".

It is unknown who of the 'potential' coaches will eventually accept the invitation' to attend an interview.

The latest Bulls coaching wishlist:

Head coach: John Dobson (Western Province); Jimmy Stonehouse (Pumas); Swys de Bruin; Ewe McKenzie (Australia)

Attack and Backs: Dawie Snyman (WP); Fourie du Preez (Bulls)

Forwards: Victor Matfield (Bulls), Daan Human (Cheetahs), Jaco Pienaar (Sharks)

Defence: Johan Laker (WP); Norman Laker (WP); Paul Treu Stormers)
