'Canes flyers staying put

Hurricanes flyers Andre Taylor and Alapati Leiua have agreed new deals with the Wellington Super Rugby franchise.

Taylor has proved to be a prolific try-scorer and currently top the list in the competition with ten tries this season, while Leiua have been another valuable attacking asset out wide.

"I'm thrilled to sign with the Hurricanes. I've really enjoyed this season and I'm looking forward to continuing to do the best I can for this team," Taylor said.

The 24-year-old has signed for a further two years for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Samoan-born utility back, Leiua is another key signing for the franchise. He is now contracted for the 2013 season. Playing at wing, Leiua bagged a double against the Rebels in their last home game before the break.

"I'm excited to stay with the team. We have been going really well this year and I want to be a part of that next season," Leiua explained.

Head coach Mark Hammett is delighted with the re-signing of two instrumental talents for the Hurricanes.

"Andre has really hit his form this year and found himself a home in the backline. Alapati has continued to be a solid performer in both the wings and midfield. They are both young and hard-working guys so their commitment will add to the momentum we're building."
