Citings for tip-tackling duo

Blues flank Steven Luatua and Chiefs wing Maritino Nemani have both been cited for dangerous tackles in their match at the North Harbour Stadium on Saturday.

Both players were shown yellow and white cards by referee Chris Pollock, and upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion that both incidents had met the red card threshold for foul play.

Luatua's tackle was on Chiefs lock Brodie Retallick in the 33rd minute, and Nemani was involved in a similar tip tackle on Blues wing Rene Ranger in the 35th minute.

Both players were ruled to have contravened Law 10.4 (j) Lifting a Player from the ground and either dropping or driving that Player’s head and/or upper body into the ground whilst the Player’s feet are off the ground and both citings will be considered by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron.
