Crusaders sweating over All Blacks duo

INJURY UPDATE: The Crusaders may have to take on the Sharks without Kieran Read and Ryan Crotty.

The All Blacks captain Read and midfielder Crotty both left the field early during the Crusaders 54-17 win over the Blues on Saturday.

Read suffered a wrist injury and was replaced at halftime, while Crotty left the field, in the 52nd minute, with a sore thumb.

Head coach Scott Robertson confirmed both players had scans to determine the extent of the damage.

"Reado [Read] and Crotts [Crotty] are getting some imaging now and we will know in the next 24 to 48 hours how they are, and make a call," Robertson said after the match.

"It is the same wrist Kieran has done previously, so hopefully it is nothing major,” Robertson added. “Look, he played on with it for 10 minutes (after hurting it) and played well. We said ‘off you go, let’s look after you’. So hopefully it is something minor,"

A Crusaders medical report did confirm that pair has been cleared of any significant injury and will be monitored early in the week as they reintegrate to training.

The Crusaders are attempting to win their second consecutive Super Rugby title and will host the first quarter-final against the Sharks next weekend.
