Crusaders wing gets one week banned

SANZAAR Judicial Hearing has found Hail guilty of contravening Law 10.4 (a) Punching or Striking: A player must not strike an opponent with the arm, after he was cited during the Super Rugby match.

However, giving Havili good disciplinary record, the wing escaped a two week banned and was slapped with a one week suspension. The week banned will see the player absent for up to and including Saturday June 11.

The SANZAAR Judicial Committee Hearing held via video conference on June 7, was heard by Adam Casselden, who were the Chairman, Mike Mika and John Langford.

In their findings, Casselden ruled the following: "Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, including from [Havili] and submissions from his legal representative, Aaron Lloyd, the Judicial Committee upheld the citing under Law 10.4(a) for striking,"

Casselden stated: "With respect to sanction the Judicial Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a low-end entry point of two weeks.

"However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player’s excellent disciplinary record and absence of aggravating factors the player was suspended for a period of one week.

"Accordingly the player is suspended from all forms of rugby up to and including June 11, 2016. The player is free to resume playing on June 18, 2016," Casselden added.
