D-Day for Lambie
The men from Durban need a win against the Sunwolves in Durban on Friday to claim the Africa Conference wildcard spot.
Lambie is facing another set of cognitive tests on Monday, which could see him being cleared for play some role against the Sunwolves.
However, it is also a fact that Lambie has been sidelined for so long that it carries significant risk if he is introduced straight back into the starting team.
Given his value, Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold may not want to risk him ahead of the play-offs.
Should Lambie be cleared, playing off the bench is the most likely option.
The Sharks have in Garth April a more than adequate flyhalf for opposition of the calibre of the Sunwolves, so easing Lambie back off the bench makes sense.
Sharks captain Tendai Mtawarira also backs April to do the job.
"Garth April ran the game well for us and the other youngsters also put their hands up," he said after their 26-10 win over the Cheetahs at the weekend.
