Devastating season-ending blow for Pumas
INJURY UPDATE: The Pumas' already challenging Super Rugby Unlocked campaign has been dealt a cruel blow.
Reports revealed that Pumas captain Ryan Nell will be sidelined for more than three months with a knee injury.
The 30-year-old sustained the season-ending injury during his team's 31-53 defeat to the Cheetahs last Saturday.
"This is bad," Nell told Netwerk24.
"We've trained for eight or nine months and I really looked forward to the season.
"However I will use the time to recover,"
The news is a major setback for Pumas coach Jimmy Stonehouse.
He has a growing captaincy problem, given that lock Le Roux Roets, who took over the captain's armband in the absence of Nell, is another major doubt.
The Pumas travel to Kimberley to face the Griquas on Saturday for their Super Rugby Unlocked round two match.
This men from Kimberley will be determined to secure their first win following narrow defeat to much-favoured Bulls last weekend.
