VIDEO: Dobson reveals Stormers' long-term captaincy options

WATCH as Stormers coach John Dobson speaks about his options to fill the leadership vacancy left by departed Springbok captain Siyamthanda Kolisi.

Kolisi's move from Cape Town to Durban was confirmed last week, with Dobson naming seasoned lock Chris van Zyl as captain of the Stormers team for their preparation games - against the Cheetahs in Cape Town, Griquas in Kimberley, the Bulls in Pretoria and the Lions in Cape Town.

However, a permanent replacement as captain - in the wake of Kolisi's polemical departure - has not been confirmed.

"We have ideas [about the captaincy]," Dobson told @rugby365com - in response to a question about the team's leadership.

"Chris [van Zyl] is here. He is [the] captain now and we have had great experiences with him."

He then explained who the other candidates are.

"Kitsy [Steven Kitshoff] did a great job when Siya [Kolisi] was not available - which was a fair portion of the last competition.

"We have a guy like [lock] Salmaan Moerat.

"He is a guy we are looking at as a long-term leader at this union.

"It will be one of those guys."

Dobson added that once they have clarity on which tournament they are going to play in, they will most likely make the announcement about the long-term captaincy.
