Fractured jaw sidelines Gelant

Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw revealed on Tuesday that fullback Warrick Gelant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks.

The star No.15 fractured his jaw in the Bulls' 30-27 win over the Sunwolves in Singapore last Saturday.

Gelant will undergo surgery on Wednesday.

The Bulls, who face the Cheetahs in Pretoria this coming Saturday, have some quality back-up - headlined by Springbok centre Jessie Kriel, as well as Bjorn Basson and Eastern Province Kings recruit SP Marais.

Marais is on trial with the Bulls.

The team doctor also revealed that three senior players are returning from long-term injuries.

Pieter Labuschagne, Deon Stegmann and Dean Greyling have all started training with the team and are available for selection for the team to play the Cheetahs.

However, Namibian loose forward Renaldo Bothma - who last week signed a long-term contract with the Bulls - remains sidelined with an ankle injury and is a couple of weeks away from returning to training.

The team to face the Cheetahs will be named on Wednesday.
