Goromaru's season is over

The injury will require surgery and means he will be on the sidelines for 12 weeks, ruling him out of the Reds' final three games of Super Rugby.

The Japanese international was hopeful the injury was not too serious and even spent a lengthy period of time post match signing autographs and meeting fans, but scans revealed the extent of the damage.

"I'm disappointed I can't play out the rest of the season with my Reds team mates and I'm obviously disappointed to be missing out on the June Test series with Japan. I've had a fantastic time in Australia and now I just want to work hard on my recovery.

"I'm looking forward to what challenges are ahead," Goromaru said.

The injury occurred in the 57th minute of the game as Goromaru attempted to prevent a try by Sunwolves flank Liaki Moli.
