Jake's Colts to run against Wales

The Jake White-coached Brumbies will be decidedly short on experience when they take on Wales in a mid-week tour match in Canberra on Tuesday.

The Brumbies' 22-man squad named on Sunday, to tackle the Six Nations and Grand Slam champions, will have three players making their debuts.

Another six - five of whom will start on the bench - will wear the Brumbies jersey for the first time this year.

It's clear the Brumbies coach Jake White is giving his young charges an opportunity to shine against top-quality international opposition, with Wales having gone down narrowly to the Wallabies 19-27 in the first of three Tests in Brisbane at the weekend.

Missing eight Brumbies, including skipper Ben Mowen, to the Wallabies squad, lock Ben Hand has been handed the captaincy reins for the match - despite having only played 50 minutes this season.

Tuesday's clash is a tremendous opportunity for all selected players to press their claim for the regular 22-man squad.

ACT sides have managed to down the Welsh on their last two trips to Canberra (1978, 21-20; 1996, 69-30), but with the tourists reeling from their loss to the Wallabies on Saturday, Tuesday's clash shapes as one of the toughest in history.

Kimami Sitauti and Cam Crawford have both claimed wing spots for the match after turning in a series of quality performances in the John I Dent Cup. Other notable backs selections include Andrew Smith at inside centre, with Tevita Kuridrani running outside him at No.13 and Robbie Coleman at fullback.

Looking for his first opportunity in a Brumbies jumper after defeating a series of injuries is Siliva Siliva (hooker), a former aged grade Australian representative who will come in to the action from the bench. Siliva joined the Brumbies fulltime squad at the end of 2011 but has been plagued by niggling injuries.

Scott Sio (tighthead prop) partners Anthony Hegarty (hooker) and Ruaidhri Murphy (loosehead prop) in the front row, with Ita Vaea at No.8, Colby Faingaa at openside flank and Peter Kimlin at blindside flank.

The Brumbies locks will be Leon Power and Ben Hand, with Hand also being handed the honour of captaining the team against the Welsh touring side. On the bench, Tuggeranong Vikings Beau Mokoputo will play back up to Ian Prior at scrumhalf while 2011 Australian Under 20's representative JP Predaud will feature as the replacement prop.

Dylan Sigg (flank), Fotu Auelua (No. 8) and Tom Cox (wing) will also be looking for opportunities from the bench.

The Brumbies remain on top of the Australian conference and - barring catastrophe - are set for their first finals campaign since 2004 with three games to play against Western Force, NSW Waratahs and the Blues at home.
