Lions confirm the return of a Springbok

TRANSFER NEWS: The Lions confirmed on Thursday that they will be getting a Bok back from England.

Springbok prop Ruan Dreyer will return to Ellis Park after a two-year absence.

After the 2018 Super Rugby season, Dreyer joined coach Johan Ackermann at English club Gloucester.

The 29-year-old prop is not the only South African player to leave Gloucester after the club and Ackermann parted ways in May.

The others are lock Franco Mostert and hooker Franco Marais.

The signing of Dreyer comes after the Lions confirmed some other key signings earlier this week.

On Tuesday they announced loose forwards Len Massyn and Marnus Schoeman had both signed one-year extensions of their contracts at Ellis Park.

It followed the weekend announcement that two stalwarts – props Sti Sithole and Jan-Henning Campher – also extended their contracts for another year.

Late last week the Lions also revealed that 24-year-old Sibahle Ndiphiwe Maxwane, better known as Rabz, has put pen to paper and is joining the Lions.
