Lions star out for the season?
INJURY UPDATE: The Lions suffered a massive pre-season setback, following their 35-40 loss to the Bulls in a pre-season outing in Soweto this past Sunday.
Star loose forward Cyle Brink has most likely been ruled out for the entire season, after he ruptured his Achilles tendon on the right leg at Soccer City.
The 26-tear-old, with almost 70 games for the Lions and Golden Lions, will undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Prop Carlu Sadie has also been added to the injury list.
He suffered a concussion in an earlier pre-season match against the Bulls last Friday.
According to the Lions medical; staff he is still "symptomatic" and is in a race against time to be fit for the opening match of the season - when the Lions travel to Buenos Aires to face the Jaguares on February 1.
New recruit Roelof Smit suffered a calf "contusion" in Soweto, but no timeframe has been given for his recovery.
Darrien Landsberg also suffered a concussion against the Bulls last Friday and is also still symptomatic.
Francke Horn suffered a Grade II ankle injury last Thursday. No timeframe on his recovery has been given.
There is some good news on the injury front for the Lions.
Ruan Vermaak (knee) will be available from next week.
Hacjivah Dayimani (ankle) is returning to full training this week.
Tyrone Green (knee) came through weekend's game well, following his cameo in Soweto.
Louritz van der Schyff (knee) also came through last Friday's game well.
