Reds fullback escapes with a warning

DISCIPLINARY UPDATE: Reds player Hamish Stewart escaped with a warning after he recklessly entered a ruck during his team's 17-32 defeat to the Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday.

Stewart has been issued with a Warning for contravening Law Law 9.12: A player must not physically or verbally abuse anyone, during the Super Rugby match.

The incident occurred in the 41st minute of the match at Loftus Versfeld. Stewart recklessly entered a ruck and his shoulder made contact with the head of his opponent.

A warning may be issued by the SANZAAR Citing Commissioner for foul play incidents that are very close to, but in his opinion do not meet the red card threshold for citings.

In this case the referee for the match did act upon the incident issuing a penalty. Upon further review of the match footage the Citing Commissioner deemed a warning was appropriate.

There were no further disciplinary incidents for this round.
