Relief for Blues as injuries mount

Ranger suffered an ACL rupture to his left knee last Saturday after a tackle from Sharks counterpart Paul Jordaan in the 30th minute.

Ranger was seen to by Blues medics and escorted off the field, replaced by George Moala for the remainder of the game.

Blues team doctor, Stephen Kara, has confirmed the ACL rupture injury and said that Ranger will be seeing a specialist later in the week regarding surgery.

Blake Gibson will also be out of action for the next 10 weeks after fracturing his right thumb during training on April 12.

The flank is scheduled for surgery on Thursday, April 21 and will follow a rehabilitation programme post-surgery.

Wing and New Zealand Sevens star, Ben Lam, will also be requiring surgery after rupturing his left ACL during a Blues A game.

His surgery is scheduled for Friday, April 22.

Luckily for the Blues, they also have a few players recovering after time-out due to lengthy injuries.

After months of rehab, loose forward Tanerau Latimer launched his Blues rugby career on Saturday night.

The Super Rugby centurion earned his first cap with the team after rehabilitating from a calf injury sustained in Japan while playing for Toshiba Brave Lupus.

The 2016 Wider Training Group member TJ Faiane is now seven weeks post-surgery after having his right ACL repaired.

The midfielder has since commenced a rehabilitation programme with Blues physios and will likely return to training at the end of October, 2016.
