Sharks reveal extent of Daniel du Preez's injury

INJURY UPDATE: The Sharks have revealed the full extent of Daniel du Preez's injury.

Du Preez had to undergo a medical examination after leaving the field against the Stormers on Saturday. At the time, it was serious enough for father Robert du Preez (senior) to skip the post-match formalities and head to hospital to see to his son’s welfare.

But the good news is that he has suffered no serious consequences that had him stretchered from the field. He has a pinched nerve on the neck and if he comes through training this week, he will be available for selection for the Sharks’ must-win game against the Jaguares.

The bad news for the Sharks, Sibusiso Nkosi sprained his ankle against the Stormers and is undergoing scans to determine the extent of the injury. He will be a big loss out wide if he is unavailable.

Jean-Luc du Preez has an MCL sprain (suffered against the Lions) and his rehab is currently on track.

The Sharks did themselves no favour with the 16-27 loss to the Stormers.

They will have to beat a difficult Jaguares team and then hope the Highlanders beat the Rebels to sneak into the play-offs through the back door.
