Shipperley out for the season
Scans revealed the 25-year-old has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during the first-half of the Rebels 25-point loss to the Hurricanes at AAMI Park on Friday.
After scoring the Rebels' historic 100th try at AAMI Park in the seventh minute, Shipperley was helped off the field nine minutes later after injuring his knee in a tackle.
"We're shattered for Dom, he's been a consistent performer during the first-half of the year for the Rebels, but unfortunately a contact injury has prematurely ended his Super Rugby season," Rebels General Manager Baden Stephenson said.
"The Rebels will make sure that we support Dom throughout his rehabilitation process and look forward to seeing him back big, stronger and better than ever."
Shipperley has made 19 appearances for the Rebels since joining the team from the Reds in 2014.
In other injury news, Mitch Inman will miss three to five weeks after suffering a hand injury in the Rebels victory over the Waratahs in Round Six.
Colby Fainga'a will be available for selection this week after overcoming an elbow injury which has sidelined the flanker since the team's opening round victory over the Western Force.
